Matthew Brown is the founder of MJBLabs, specializing in large-scale SEO programs for media and technology companies. For fifteen years, Matthew has led SEO efforts at many well-known media companies and internet brands. As Director of Search for the New York Times Company from 2005-2010, he managed a team that increased search traffic to NYTimes.com 130% year-over-year, and ran a successful training program introducing journalists to the mysterious workings of Google and Google News.
In addition to in-house work at the NYT, Matthew co-founded an internal consulting group within the Times that developed SEO initiatives at many large publishing groups, including Hearst, Conde Nast, Time Inc, and USA Today. This consulting work spanned across dozens of news media sites, with a specific goal of building sustainable audiences through organic search.
